Pornhub, the internet’s largest gay video site, is going to shut down as of Tuesday, after users started posting complaints that the service was degrading to them.
The company says it’s investigating complaints from users and will continue to investigate other issues.
The move comes after the company said it had to suspend its advertising plans because of the complaints.
Pornhub says that users will be able to continue viewing content, but it will be removed from the company’s “safe harbor” list and banned from future search results.
“It is not our goal to destroy anyone’s privacy or to harm anyone’s feelings, but to give them the best possible experience while protecting our users’ privacy,” Pornhub said in a statement.
The news comes amid mounting pressure on the internet company to take a more active role in the gay community and stop promoting porn and other violent, sexual content.
PornHub CEO Brian Chesky said in November that he was committed to providing a safe space for users to share their stories and connect with each other.
“We want to be a place where you can find and share all of your porn and gay experiences and have them be accessible to all,” Chesky told a group of entrepreneurs.
“Pornhub is an online community that is open, welcoming, and welcoming to all.”
The announcement comes as more people are becoming more vocal about their feelings about the gay porn industry and the prevalence of violent, violent and harmful content.
Last week, the CEO of a major porn site, AdultFriendFinder, called for porn sites to take their ads off of Google and Twitter after receiving death threats from users.
The adult entertainment site has also received a lot of criticism over the past week, including a Facebook post from a user who says he’s been banned from Twitter and Google.
The post was made in response to a user on Facebook who says she has been banned for speaking out about abuse she says she suffered as a result of her sexuality.
