A nursing home worker has died in a nursing home in Houston, a day after she gave birth in her arms to two kittens to help others in need.
The two kittens were born in the nursing home and were transported to the University of Houston Medical Center for an emergency birth.
The Houston Chronicle reports that the nurse, identified as Lina Marie Garcia, was rushed to the hospital with a cardiac arrest Sunday night.
The Associated Press first reported the nursing staff’s death.
A memorial fund for Garcia’s family is raising money for her care at the nursing facility.
Garcia has been a nurse for the past 13 years at the Houston Livestock Center.
Garcia was a mother of two and worked at the facility for nearly five years.
The center is a public housing facility, but Garcia was not on the waiting list for a public place to live.
