A little over two weeks after his first NHL goal, Matt Duchesne is starting to realize it’s not about him anymore.
After an awkward start to the season, Duchesn is averaging more than three goals per game while playing well enough to have a spot on the top line with Anthony Duclair and Jared McCann.
Duchesnar has scored a goal in every game he’s played this season and his team has been a consistent possession team.
Duchesne said he was happy to be on the ice for the team’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
“I’m really excited to be in the lineup,” Duchesnesaid.
“I think it’s a great opportunity for me.
I’m excited to play a little bit of a role with the guys, so I’m happy to have that opportunity.
I feel really good about the whole thing.”
Duchedne said that if he could go back in time he would probably have scored more goals for his team.
“Honestly, I think I would have been better for the goal,” Duchednesaid, who has one goal in six games.
“But it doesn’t really matter to me.
My goal is just to help the team win.”
The Coyotes are in their first three games since missing the playoffs by a week with a 2-2 record.
The team has lost five straight.
